The Digital General Practitioner (GP) model is transforming rural healthcare in Bangladesh by addressing critical challenges such as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, resource limitations, and a non-functional referral system. Implemented by CMED Health and United Trust in Nayangar union, the model provides comprehensive preventive and primary healthcare services directly at residents’ doorsteps through digital health kits, mobile applications, and telemedicine. During the pilot project, 12,746 people from 5643 households received routine health screenings, risk assessments, and digital consultations. The study highlighted a high prevalence of hypertension (4.84%) and diabetes (2.22%) among rural populations, emphasizing the need for preventive healthcare awareness. By leveraging AI-driven clinical decision support systems and integrated digital platforms, the model ensures efficient health monitoring, structured referrals, and cost-effective healthcare delivery. This approach not only enhances accessibility but also reduces out-of-pocket expenses, contributing to universal health coverage and setting a precedent for digital health inclusion in low-resource settings.
