Prof. Khondaker A. Mamun, PhD,Founder, Institute of Research, Innovation, Incubation, and Commercialization (IRIIC),Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, United International University, and Founder, CMED Health (AI for Health Initiative), on being awarded the Prestigious Award by the Post and Telecommunication Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

This recognition was presented on the occasion of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2025 for his significant contributions to the development of the Telecom and ICT sector in Bangladesh. The award was conferred by the Honorable Adviser, Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development & Cooperatives & Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh.

His leadership in launching CMED Health solutions and establishing IRIIC as a national innovation hub has driven transformative projects across Bangladesh’s health, disability, and education sectors. Building on these efforts, he has spearheaded pioneering research in Brain Computer Interfaces and AI applications for public health, assistive technologies for disability inclusion, and adaptive educational tools, demonstrating a commitment to cutting‑edge innovation. 

At the policy level, he has advised the government on AI strategy, digital health policy, and national capacity‑building programs. This award honors his visionary approach to leveraging technology for national development. 

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, IRIIC, UIU, Founder and Director of AIMS Lab, and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, United International University received the “Study UK Alumni Awards 2023-24” in the category of “Business and Innovation” at a ceremony hosted by the British Council on Thursday, February 8, 2024. The award was recognized for his outstanding achievements as a business professional, entrepreneur, and community leader, and for his contribution to strengthening ties between the UK and Bangladesh.

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, IRIIC, UIU, Founder and Director of AIMS Lab, and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, United International University received the “Digital Bangladesh Award 2022” in the category of Technical-Private (Best Individual) at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC), Dhaka on 12 December 2022. He received the prestigious award for his outstanding contribution towards building digital Bangladesh and digital healthcare systems at the national level.

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun, Director, IRIIC, UIU, Founder and Director of AIMS Lab, and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, United International University was awarded recognition for his contribution to the development (Bolte Chai App and Smart Autism Barta) and ensuring the safety of people with autism on 15th World Autism Awareness Day 2022, April 2, 2022.

AIMS Lab was awarded the BASIS National ICT Awards 2022 for the project titled Deep Depression: A Machine Learning-based Depression Screening Tool from EEG Data to Aid Clinicians at a ceremony at the Radisson hotel on 31 October 2022.

AIMS Lab, United International University achieved 4 awards out of the top 10 in the Mujib 100 Idea Contest 2021.

    The projects were selected from over 1100+ ideas and awarded a total of BDT 40,00,000.00.

“Bolte Chai: An Intelligent Integrated Platform to Support Verbally Challenged People” received Honorable Mention at the 3rd Bangladesh Innovation Award 2021 in the Best Innovation-Product Development category, March 2021.

“Bolte Chai: An Intelligent Integrated Platform to Support Verbally Challenged People” received the Merit Award at the BASIS National ICT Award 2020 in the Indigenous and Community Services category, June 2021.

CMED Health was recognized for its Outstanding Contribution during COVID-19 with the e-Commerce Movers Award 2020 – eCMA by the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh on November 2020.
